Frequently Asked Questions for our Provincetown B&B
We realize you may have questions about our B&B and its services. Here is a collection of frequently asked questions for our B&B and the Provincetown area. If you still have questions, don't hesitate to call or email.
How late can we check-in?
Check-in begins at 2:30 and goes to 8:00 PM. However, if you plan to arrive after 7 PM, please let us know as soon as possible and we will make special arrangements to check you in upon your arrival.
Are children welcome?
Due to the size of our inn we do not accept infants. As long as your children are respectful of others... they are welcome most of the year! We ask that children under age 8 be discussed before booking; we only offer one bed in each room (Queen or King) so a rollaway (limited availability) would be required. A fee of $35/night applies to each additional person. For safety, the hot tub is restricted to age 18+.
How far away is the beach?
Provincetown Harbor is directly across the street providing a sandy beach one minute from our front door where you can lay on the beach. There is a beach club directly across from us with a huge full-service deck offering cocktails & grill in season. The Cape Cod National Seashore, known for its sand dunes and incredible beaches and Two of New England's most famous beaches, Herring Cove and Race Point, apart of the Cape Cod National Seashore, are a 10 minute bike ride away; you can also drive onto controlled access parts of the beach (fee may apply in season). Flyers Boatyard is a 5 minute walk, where you can rent a boat or kayak.
Are restaurants and shops within walking distance?
We are located in the heart of Provincetown in the fashionable west end. We are within a one minute walk of Jimmy's Hideaway, Bayside Betsy's, Bubala's, Spirtus Pizza, Lorraine's, and Joe's Coffee (new large location now will include sandwiches is located on our corner with indoor & outdoor seating!). Additionally, many more restaurants and shops are just a short 5 to 10 minute stroll down Commercial Street: Victor's, Lobster Pot, Chaddington's, Century, Roots and many more restaurants & shops! Reservations are recommended for dining between 6-9PM. Information on PTown's restaurants is available from our website; simply click on the "Attractions Tab" on the homepage and then click on the "Restaurants & Dining" link.
Is there a minimum number of nights required for booking or making a reservation?
Generally there is a three (3) night minimum in summer season. This applies to holidays and holiday weekends but the number of nights can vary from one (1) night (last minute availability) to seven (7) nights during Carnival in August. We can clarify via Email at Stephen@PrinceAlbertGuestHouse.com or via Phone at (508) 487-1850.
Who is the retriever in some of the photos?
Our Labrador Retriever's name is Sophie, or "Santa Sophia". She is the happy-go-lucky mascot of the Prince Albert Guest House from May 1, 2006 through April 22, 2010. Sophie was born in Texas on New Years Day in 2001 adopted from a Lab Rescue. While she was born in Texas, Sophie loved living in Provincetown and she loved the beaches, residents and guests of Provincetown. She was extremely friendly, loved children and people of all ages... she even helped to calm down other pets that were scared or unruly. Sophie passed away in our arms on April 22, 2010 & most assuredly went straight to heaven! She will be missed by our many wonderful guests and of course by Bob & Stephen. Our new Lab is "Shelby" (Sept 2010) whom looks very similar and that is every bit as sweet!
